ACL Fest - day 3
I felt good enough to go to the late afternoon/evening of ACLfest yesterday, and even though I am not doing so hot today, I’m so glad that I went. The little that I got to hear of Son Volt sounded really good, and the Flaming Lips were freakin’ awesome live! Their lead singer crowdsurfed onto the stage in a bubble, there were balloons and confetti everywhere, and people in Martian and Santa Claus outfits onstage, among other things (apparently, they’ve got a movie coming out soon called Christmas on Mars). Spin and Q magazines have listed them among the top bands to see live, so I was really psyched about seeing them - and I was definitely not disappointed! 
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers sounded great too, but it started to downpour only a few songs into their set. They then took a 40 minute or so break in the music before coming back onstage after the rain had died down. After that, the mood was kind of broken for me, but I guess I’m glad we stayed ’till the end anyway…
